Description

Reporting to the Director of Research and Planning, the Coordinator of Institutional Research will provide research and support in the areas of outcomes assessment, program review, annual strategies, and institutional research. This position will perform statistical analyses, interpret results, conduct survey research, and other research tasks in support of college planning.

This position is assigned to the VGCC Main Campus, although some travel to other counties in the college’s service area is possible. Consistent with VGCC’s Teleworking Policy, this position is eligible for up to 16 hours per week of telework after the first 9 months of employment upon your supervisor’s approval.

Essential Duties

 

  • Collaborate, assist, support academic and non-academic departments and administrators to develop, maintain, outcome assessments, program reviews, annual strategies, and other research initiatives via strategic planning and accreditation software.
  • Coordinate training sessions to enhance understanding of the planning and accreditation software used for outcome assessments, program reviews, annual strategies, and other research initiatives.
  • Provide regular feedback and guidance to administrators, faculty, and staff completing outcome assessments, program reviews, annual strategies, and other research initiatives.
  • Design, administer, tabulate, and analyze surveys and assessment materials for internal & external stakeholders.
  • Queries, retrieves, and summarizes data from specialized databases and information systems, including the North Carolina Community College’s Power BI Clearinghouse and Datatel (Colleague), to support the College’s assessment, evaluation, planning, and reporting functions.
  • Employs a variety of Microsoft Excel functions to create reports using raw data.
  • Conduct statistical analyses of the institution and local demographics and trends, labor market, educational trends, provide statistical summaries and interpretive reports in support of institutional assessment, evaluation, and planning.
  • Work collaboratively with all College personnel to accomplish functions and responsibilities to implement the College Strategic Plan.
  • Serve on Institutional committees to support the College Strategic Plan.
  • Assist Director of Planning and Research maintain records and reporting for regional accreditor (SACSCOC).
  • Maintains the confidentiality and security of all institutional and system data.
  • Provide necessary training to faculty and staff related to research and planning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience Required:


  • Associate’s degree in business, public administration, research/statistics or related field.
  • A minimum of three years of analytical experience involving the research and reporting of complex data.
Education and Experience Preferred:
  • Bachelor’s degree business, public administration, research/statistics or related field.
  • Experience using Colleague
  • Experience in Community College or any post-secondary education setting
