The Information Assurance: Michigan Medicine (IA:MM) team was established to protect systems, data, and identities that Michigan Medicine relies upon. The team educates and prepares staff and students for increasing cyber threats, and proactively mitigates IT security risks in partnership with the greater U-M community. The IA:MM team enables teaching, learning, research, and healthcare in a large, open environment by helping to balance risks and threats. IA:MM collaborates and coordinates with university efforts and participates in the development of university-wide security, compliance, and privacy strategies and strives to implement best practice cybersecurity efforts.

The mission of UM Information Assurance is to direct university-wide IT security, IT policy, compliance, privacy, and enterprise continuity efforts and provide operation security services that enable the university to excel in its research, teaching, and patient care mission.
This role, as part of the academic medical center?s assurance program, is both part of UM Information Assurance and the Michigan Medicine Chief Information Officer?s program. The goal is to represent and balance the needs of the health system and medical school in the framework and processes of the greater UM Information Assurance effort.
Job Summary
Information Assurance: Michigan Medicine is seeking a Secure Platforms Analyst Intermediate. This position is dedicated to assessing and evaluating entire platforms and associated security controls and decisions.
This position will report to the Information Assurance Cybersecurity Risk Manager. The Secure Platforms Analyst - Intermediate will be a member of the Information Assurance Secure Platforms Team.
Responsibilities*
This position is responsible for evaluating and validating the use of security controls on platforms to reduce the likelihood of occurrence and the severity of impact of risks to Michigan Medicine assets due to security flaws or implementation defects. Duties include researching, recommending and documenting security control deviations for escalation to the Technical Owner for remediation. This position will also assist with communicating security procedures to users. Employees in this classification typically analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities. Primary activities and decision-making authority are predominantly performed independently affecting business operations to a substantial degree. Under FLSA, this is the exempt job classification for this title. Incumbents in this position must meet the full criteria for exempt status: salary level, salary basis, and duties tests.
