Scope of Position
The Director of Curriculum Innovation is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of innovative and inclusive curricula across the College. The director will be an integral member of the college’s strategic plan Key Direction 2 efforts. The Director collaborates with faculty, staff, students, and external partners to design and deliver courses and programs that align with the College’s strategic vision and mission.
Specifically, the Director oversees and provides leadership around advancement of the College’s Competency-Based Education (CBE), Blendflex, and innovative access models. The director will focus on assessment and improvement of curricular quality and effectiveness with a concentration on growing a culture of excellence and innovation in teaching and learning.
Key Measurable Expectations
- Provide leadership and direction for the development and revision of curricula that reflect the College’s goals and values and meet the needs and expectations of diverse learners and stakeholders. A particular focus on competency-based education and BlendFlex models is a critical measure of this expectation.
- Coordinate and facilitate the curriculum approval process, ensuring compliance with academic standards, accreditation requirements, and best practices.
- Support faculty and staff in the adoption and integration of innovative and evidence-based pedagogies, technologies, and assessment methods in courses and programs.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive and systematic plan for evaluating and enhancing the quality and impact of curricula, using data-driven and participatory approaches.
- Manage and allocate resources for curriculum innovation projects and initiatives and monitor and report on their progress and outcomes.
- Establish and maintain effective communication and collaboration with internal and external partners, such as academic departments, schools, centers, institutes, industry, community, and alumni, to identify and respond to emerging curricular needs and opportunities.
- Contribute to the professional development and recognition of faculty and staff involved in curriculum innovation, promoting a culture of excellence and innovation in teaching and learning across the College.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in instructional design, education or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of five years of experience in curriculum development (instructional design), innovation, and evaluation in higher education, primarily with competency-based education.
- Possess experience and proven track record with curriculum development and competency-based education.
- Demonstrated record of excellence and innovation in teaching and learning, with evidence of integrating diverse, inclusive, and learner-centered approaches.
- Strong knowledge of current and emerging trends, issues, and best practices in curriculum design, delivery, and assessment in higher education.
- Experience demonstrating ability to lead, manage, and collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders in complex and dynamic environments.
- Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using various technologies and platforms for curriculum development, delivery, and evaluation.
- An understanding and proven ability to lead instructional design efforts in academia.
