Subawards Associate
Job Description
We are seeking a Subawards Associate who will develop and modify outgoing sub agreements under prime federal grants, foundation awards, and Internal accounts.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Modify federal contract agreements.
- Review Subaward Workflow Information Tracking (SWIFT) System requests for accuracy and completeness of record.
- Request additional information/documentation from the JHU department, as needed.
- Update subaward’s database records consistently.
- Determine appropriate template to use for sub agreements, based on information provided by department admin.
- Prepare initial sub agreement for review by Assistant Director.
- Complete compliance checks (e.g. IRB, IACUC, Risk ratings, COI).
- Create or modify Purchase Order Numbers as necessary.
- Request internal order number.
- Request shopping carts using SAP.
- Maintain files awaiting return of the sub agreement from the subrecipient.
- Assist subrecipient with questions/issues.
- Negotiate contract language with subrecipients.
- Process partially executed agreements for signature.
Other Duties
- Assist JHU P.I. and department admin with questions and SAP/PO related issues.
- Maintain current knowledge of developments in legislation and sponsor requirements affecting sub agreements.
- Prepare documents and aid Assistant Director with JHU P.I./department trainings, upon request.
- Attend monthly database meetings.
- Participate in Subawards Group/ORA staff meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Three years' experience in research administration, one year of which is in a sponsored research environment.
- Some familiarity with legal principles of negotiation and grant administration.
- Additional experience may be considered in lieu of education.
Preferred Qualifications
- Must be able to learn quickly, read analytically, and write well and fluently.
- Requires strong typing and computer skills (Word, Access, Excel), excellent spelling and grammar, and the ability to communicate clearly.
- Individual must be detail-oriented, well-organized, and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Must be able to handle ambiguity and exercise mature judgement.
- Must be able to work independently after initial instruction but must also be willing and able to work as a member of a team with input from multiple sources.

Starting Salary Range: $62,900 - $110,100 Annually ($76,170 targeted; Commensurate with experience)
