About the opportunity

As an English Language Teacher, you will teach English language programs to international students at the University's Centre for English Teaching (CET).

We are developing an eligibility list of Casual Teachers for our peak period consisting of 5-week terms commencing from June 2024 through to January 2025.

Available positions are mostly for experienced teachers of Academic English, full-time (20 hours per week) and part time (8 - 12 hours per week). This is a zero-hour contract and does not guarantee work throughout January 2025, as teaching hours are determined by the number of students and classes and the needs of the centre.

Classes are held Mondays - Fridays between 8.00am-12.15pm, 12.20pm-4.35pm or 4.40pm-9.00pm and delivered on-campus.

  • Experience in teaching high level academic English
  • Curriculum development experience
  • Experience in teaching across a range of programs (academic, general, English for Health Professionals, English for Engineers, other ESP)
  • Postgraduate degree

Please note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. For a continuing position, you must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or an Australian Permanent Resident.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
