Grants & Contracts Analyst
Job Description
The Office of Financial Operations is seeking a Grants & Contracts Analyst.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Process simple to moderately complex grant and contract account setup and department requests received through shared email accounts.
- Serve as liaison between departments and central offices for grants of simple to moderate complexity.
- Workflow account setup and department requests through Oculus to Sponsored Project Shared Services for processing in SAP.
- Monitor Finance workflows in the University JAWS and SWIFT databases.
- Log grants and contracts received from university Research Administration and created and updated by Sponsored Project Shared Services in Access Database.
- Assist with the maintenance of Access Database.
- Check the created and updated grants and contracts in SAP for accuracy.
- Understand and utilize institutional policies for post-award grant processes and sponsor guidelines.
- Ensure compliance in all areas related to grant and contract management, including sponsoring organization guidelines and internal protocols.
- Review budgets and related justification for appropriateness and completeness of content.
- Ensure that all applicable and indirect costs have been applied.
- Involve more senior members of the team for direction, as needed.
- Support all relevant post-award responsibilities, as requested by senior members of the grants & contracts team, including account reconciliation, effort reporting, cost transfers, paying invoices, closeouts, sub-recipient monitoring, invoice payments and related faculty support.
- Process various transactions such as non-payroll cost transfers, budget documents and online payments.
- Provide general administrative support for Dean Emeritus.
- Process some travel and non-travel reimbursements for the Finance Office in a timely and accurate manner.
- Perform special projects and other related duties as assigned.
Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- General knowledge of accounting and budgeting theory and practices required.
- Ability to work independently with good organizational and time management skills, ability to meet deadlines, and attention to detail.
- Excellent customer service and oral communication skills.
- Ability to understand when additional direction/expertise is needed on matters of complexity.
- Able to make decisions daily, within pre-determined guidelines and parameters.
- Ability to work with flexibility on several tasks simultaneously and to meet various concurrent deadlines.
- General understanding of external Federal Guidelines and procedures regarding grants and contracts.
- General knowledge and understanding of The Johns Hopkins University (JHU) accounting system and related fiscal offices (preferred).
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Two years of administrative/budgeting experience.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Starting Salary Range: $53,800 - $94,400 Annually (Commensurate with experience)
Employee group: Full Time
Schedule: Monday to Friday: 8:30am – 5:00pm
