Position Summary 
Reporting to the Vice President, the Assistant Vice President (AVP) provides 
leadership and strategic direction to development teams responsible for raising 
funds for Fordham University’s important strategic priorities. 
 
The AVP develops annual and multiyear strategic plans, monitors progress 
towards specific goals, and adjusts plans or tactics to ensure goals are met. 
 
Occasional travel, evening and weekend work is required. This position is eligible 
for hybrid work arrangements. 
 
Essential Functions 
∙  Provides strategic oversight, leadership, and coaching in developing 
   fundraising business plans and standards to achieve fundraising goals. 
∙  Supervises managers responsible for the following areas: the Fordham 
   Fund (annual giving), Leadership Annual Giving, Parent and Family 
   Giving, Gift Planning, Major Gifts, and Advancement Research. 
∙  Develops strategic business plans, staffing plans, prospect assignments, 
   and budgets to ensure fulfillment of university fundraising goals. 
∙  Promotes best fundraising practices and collaboration at every level. 
∙  Reviews and analyzes the ongoing effectiveness of fundraising programs 
   and staff. 
∙  Personally cultivates and solicits assigned prospects. 
∙  Counsels the Vice President, and university leadership on principal gift 
   solicitations.

Management Responsibilities 
Provides strategic leadership and supervises others who supervise. Responsible 
for hiring, training, developing, managing performance, administering corrective 
action, makes compensation decisions and for managing strategic views at a 
high level. 
 
Additional Functions 
Serves as a member of DAUR’s Senior Management Team. 
 
Required Qualifications: Education and Experience 
Baccalaureate degree in liberal arts, business or related field. 
Ten+ years of experience managing fundraising teams. 
Demonstrated experience meeting annual and capital campaign goals, 
successfully soliciting gifts of $1 million or more.

∙  Ability to listen to and effectively communicate with donors, leadership, 
   colleagues, and other constituents. Emotional intelligence to successfully 
   build and maintain positive relationships with others. 
∙  Demonstrated competency in using standard office software, CRM, and
   fundraising applications commonly found in higher education and non-
   profit organizations. 
∙  Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitmento the 
   goals of Jesuit Education. 
 
Preferred Qualifications 
∙  Experience in research university development. 
 
Minimum Starting Salary: $220,000 
 
Maximum Starting Salary: $275,000 
 
Note: Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
