Job Description
RESEARCH SCIENTIST, CHUNG LAB, Picower Institute for Learning and Memory, to assume a pivotal role in generating spatial transcriptomic and proteomic optical imaging data of human and non-human primate brains. Will utilize the novel technology pipeline established by the Chung Lab, including tissue processing, molecular probe staining, and volumetric data acquisition using light sheet microscopes; act as a direct contributor to the Center for Multi-scale Multi-Omic Human and Non-human Primate Atlas, a large NIH UM1 research center; independently conduct experiments and optimize various protocols to ensure successful and consistent results; and work with collaborating teams across the center to conduct necessary protocol validation experiments. Responsibilities include working with the principal investigator and key center personnel to meet the milestone timeline; assisting with preparing quarterly/annual progress reports; ensuring timely data generation and experimental research progress; independently conducting and leading experiments with assistance from junior research staff; serving as a resource to all lab personnel; monitoring project deadlines; troubleshooting issues and developing solutions; and training lab members on general lab operations/equipment/protocols.

REQUIRED: Ph.D. in a related scientific field; at least five years’ experience working in a large research laboratory; strong technical/scientific writing skills and experience with research/grant proposal development, writing, and editing; publication record in journals; supervisory experience; ability to collaborate as part of a diverse team of graduate students/postdocs/research staff; strong time-management, planning, analytical, problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, verbal communication, and presentation skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office software; and experience conducting on-line research and applying to projects.
